Abstract

In the presented article, for the first time in Azerbaijani literary criticism, the topic of Karabakh in Polish literature of the 19th century is analyzed.
For the first time in Polish literature, the poet Tadeusz Lada Zablotsky, a member of the anti-Tsarist movement exiled to the Caucasus, addressed this topic. For the first time he translated into Polish the famous letter-poem of the Karabakh poet M.P.Vagif to the poet Vidadi: “Song for the death of Agha Mohammed Khan the Persian Shah killed in Shusha, in Karabakh in 1797. Molla Vagif folded it for
Vidadi-bey of Karabakh”. Thanks to the creative and human friendship of the Azerbaijani educator A.K.Bakikhanov and the Polish poet T.L.Zablotsky, an interlinear translation from Azerbaijani into Russian was made, thanks to which the poem was translated into Polish. The acquaintance of the Polish poet with Azerbaijani literature, the work of the Karabakh poet M.P. Vagif, and the history of Karabakh took place thanks to A.K.Bakikhanov. For the second time, Vladislav Stshelnitsky, who shared the fate of T.Zablotsky, adresses to the topic of Karabakh in Polish literature.
In his documentary work "Caucasian Sketches", the history of Karabakh, its culture is described, and accurate ethnographic information about this center of the culture of Azerbaijan is given. The information found in the "Caucasian Sketches" about Shusha, Khindarkh, Agjabedi, Askeran, about the Karabakh rulers Panah-khan, Mehti-Kuli-khan is evidence of the author's deep knowledge of
Karabakh. The most valuable for us in the “Caucasian Sketches” is the historical information about the belonging of Karabakh to Azerbaijan: “Karabakh is a Muslim province, transferred by the Shah of Iran to a Russian king, and according to a treatise signed in 1812”.
